Understanding Health Insurance

Health insurance has become complicated over the past few years. With rising costs of medical care, it is now more important than ever to protect yourself and your family from expected and unexpected medical issues. If you're under 65 years old, you can get health insurance through the ACA (Affordable Care Act) Marketplace. Most individuals and families will qualify for a Federal Tax Credit to help them pay for premiums and have access to a variety of Carriers and Plans. You can sign up for health insurance if you move coverage areas, lose qualifying coverage, or during Open Enrollment from November 1st - December 15th (for plans starting January 1) and up to January 15th (for plans starting February 1). Please contact us for exact details of your situation.

For those who are over 65 years old, you can get health insurance through Medicare. Medicare is a federal health insurance program primarily for people aged 65 and older, as well as for younger individuals with certain disabilities or qualifying medical conditions. It's designed to provide coverage for essential healthcare services, including hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription drugs, and preventive care. Medicare is divided into several parts: Part A covers hospital insurance, Part B covers medical insurance, Part C offers Medicare Advantage plans provided by private insurance companies, and Part D covers prescription drug benefits. You can sign up for Medicare when you turn 65 years old and during Open Enrollment from October 15th - December 7th. For those on Medcare Advantage Plans, Open Enrollment is between January 1st - March 31st. Please contact us for exact details of your situation.

What is Health Insurance?

Health insurance is a contract between you and the insurance company, where you pay a premium in exchange for coverage against financial responsibilities for your medical care. Plans will include premiums, deductibles, co-payments, co-insurance, network providers, and out-of-pocket maximums. Plans cover preventative care, diagnostic care, maternity care, mental/behavioral health care, hospitalization, surgery, and other services.
